You might want to review how it has been done by Process Runner, which automatically splits these documents (FB01, FB50 or even sales order of purchase order to smaller chuncks), balances them (if required) and post them - all without any ABAP.. check this out at http://it.toolbox.com/wiki/index.php/Process_Runner or at http://www.innowera.com/sapfi.html. The best of all, it will work without installing anything in your SAP system and works with intercompany FBS1 transaction as well. You can get free trial copy and test this out yourself.

ZOption's excel upload solution works !

SAP is no comparison to this method, and as such I find this post very interesting indeed. WinShuttle is also heavily recommended.

[...] SAP FICO: Uploading GL Journal Entries the Easy Way Posted on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007. Filed under SAP. Attention SAP Accountants! There is one thing that SAP does not do very well - maybe you can think of more than one . But if you’ve spent any time trying to manually enter a long Journal Entry in FB50 or F-02 (etc), you know that SAP is woefully lacking in the ability to upload entries. UPDATE: This post is about ZOption’s excel upload solution. If you want to roll your own, I discuss our experience with the BAPI here. [...]
