Byron,

Gud article and I must really appreciate your service to the community on knowledge sharing. Of the given options, as you implied, parallel ledgers, consolidations and BW reporting options definitely make sense and i guess these r the options to get into for effective transition from US GAAP to IFRS. Please keep posting such interesting tidbits.

Interesting reading for sure. My company is the assessment stage of transitioning to IFRS. We have been on SAP for six plus years and recently upgraded to 6.0. We are still using the classic general ledger though. Part of my part in assessing our status for transitioning to IFRS is to evaluate the new general ledger. I have heard numerous good things about it. However, most of that has been from SAP or SAP counterparts. I'd like to hear of the pros and cons of the new general ledger in particular to its use in parallel ledgers. In addition, I would welcome any other pros and cons regarding the new general ledger, in particular document splitting, capability of getting balance sheets down to the profit center level and any other aspects of it.

Thanks for having such a site for commentary from the real world out there.

Hi Lakshmi,

Unfortunately, I don't have anything else on IFRS at this time. Here is a great SAP resource on IFRS: IFRS on SDN.

Cheers!
